Very profound words from Pope Francis: “There is no place in the Church’s ministry for those who commit these abuses, and I commit myself not to tolerate harm done to a minor by any individual, whether a cleric or not. All bishops must carry out their pastoral ministry with the utmost care in order to help foster the protection of minors, and they will be held accountable.”
The abuse of a child is something that cannot be tolerated whether it be inside or outside of the Church. The betrayal of a child at the hands of an abuser leaves deep-rooted scars, wounds that never heal and are with you a lifetime. The kindness, compassion and love of others, especially of God, has the capacity to heal those wounds. Being embraced by God’s love, you have the power to walk out of the darkness, not unlike a shroud smothering you, and into bright, loving light without fear!
May God be with all of those innocent children years ago, who are now adults, and have families of their own. Hopefully, one day, there will never ever be another reason for the word “child abuse” to written in any article in the media!
Pope Francis, please keep up the wonderful work you are doing in this regard!
