The first reading for today is from Ecclesiates (Qoheleth; the Hebrew title) is a book in the Old Testament classified as Wisdom literature. Wisdom literature in the Bible include the Books of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Job and Sirach. Each offers a different view of “wisdom.” Such literature tends to be read in “bits and pieces” with a focus on particularly memorable verses.
